William P. Magee III MD, DDS

Plastic Surgery

Dr. William P. Magee III is the Director of International Programs in the Division of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, Associate Professor of Surgery in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at University of Southern California and Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Shriner’s Hospital for Children-Los Angeles.

Dr. Magee received his dental degree from University of Maryland and his medical degree from George Washington University before coming to University of Southern California for his plastic surgery residency. He has been on the faculty at USC since 2008. Dr. Magee works closely with the Global Health Institute at University of Southern California. His research group collaborates broadly across the University, working with the Department of Spatial Sciences, Institute of Creative Technologies, Department of Preventive Medicine and the Center for Craniofacial Molecular Biology.

Having worked with Operation Smile teams globally, Dr. Magee offers an energy and drive for pediatric surgery, data-driven solutions, and education that extends beyond the boundaries of Los Angeles. As the oldest son of the founders of Operation Smile, he has worked with the organization since age 13 and was recently appointed as the Chief of Research, Education, and Innovation at Operation Smile. He leads the Operation Smile Global Surgery Fellowship that is focused on identifying solutions to safe surgery and currently mentors ten fellows globally.
