Midori has her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from the University of São Paulo, with specialization from Kyoto University, Japan. She specializes now in speech assessment and therapy treatment for cleft lip and palate.

Shortly after returning to São Paulo, Brazil from Japan in 1986, she worked in a public hospital where she had the opportunity to apply the knowledge acquired in the field of cleft lip and palate. Three years later, she began teaching this subject in postgraduate courses in Brazil and throughout Latin America. Since 2007, Midori has also been conducting trainings, workshops, and conferences in various countries for Operation Smile.
