Speech

After several years of owning a private practice, I was appointed the head of the Speech Therapy and Audiology Department at Witbank Hospital in December 2004. In 2011 I signed up as a volunteer Speech Therapist for Operation Smile. I was credentialed after my first surgical mission and have been a regular volunteer ever since. I was invited to join the OSI SLP Medical Advisory Committee in 2021. I have had a contract with Operation Smile to produce training materials since January 2023. I have also been a member of the South African Speech-Language-Hearing Association since 2010 and have held various portfolios over the years, including President and Vice-President and am currently the Ethics Officer. I also chair the African Connections Project, which aims to provide networking opportunities for professionals working in the fields of Speech Therapy and Audiology in Africa. In 2024 I accepted an invitation to join the IALP’s Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Disorders Committee.
