Alveolar Bone Grafting

Right Alveolar Bone Graft Procedure
Presented by:

Jordan P. Steinberg, MD, PhD, FACS, FAAP

This video showcases a surgical procedure for alveolar bone grafting in an 11-year-old boy with a right unilateral complete cleft lip and palate. The operation addresses a significant V-shaped alveolar defect and an unrepaired nasal floor, with ectopic tooth extraction and sliding flap reconstruction. Bone is harvested from the iliac crest using a corticocancellous block and cancellous bone to facilitate grafting, promoting healing and future eruption of the permanent canine. The procedure includes detailed steps for nasal floor closure and soft tissue management, with pre- and postoperative imaging comparisons highlighting successful bone bridging.
